
In April 2023, Academy Sports + Outdoors and Whataburger - two Texas staples - reunited to release their second exclusive and highly-anticipated Magellan Outdoors x Whataburger co-branded apparel and product line.
Leading the collaboration from the eCommerce side, my designs included a sitewide implementation strategy featuring a responsive landing experience for both pre- and post-launch, product listing pages, homepage promotional materials, promo cards driving traffic to the experience, and mobile app promotional materials. I worked cross-functionally with the marketing and brand teams to sync outbound messaging and in-store marketing to create a seamless omnichannel experience.

Pre-Launch Marketing
A dedicated landing page on Academy’s eCommerce site was used to build anticipation ahead of launch. This page introduced the exciting collaboration with Whataburger, featuring a countdown clock, exclusive sneak peek images of the products, and a sign-up form for the ‘Whataburger for a Year’ giveaway.
Our pre-launch marketing also included site-wide assets including homepage banners, promo cards that were featured on product listing pages, and mobile application assets.
Launch
On launch day, the collaboration with Whataburger went live with a bang. The landing page was updated to showcase the product category lineup, top picks, and the exclusive giveaway. Traffic flowed in from homepage, email, and social media marketing.
Additional site-wide design elements helped funnel traffic directly to the Whataburger landing page, ensuring maximum visibility and engagement.
